Willkomen, Beinvenue, Welcome

So, I've been going back and forth about style blogging. I love reading them -- one could say spend an absurd time doing so -- but I already have a blog here, which serves my need to write (and generally spurs on creativity.  And I have a chictopia account to post outfits on. And in the large world of style blogging, the ones that are the coolest are the ones that have a focus beyond the posting of outfits. Either the blogger has a killer style, a goal, or a love of photographing to set them apart.

But then it struck me, of the outfits I've liked best lately, they generally have one thing in common -- me getting out of my comfort zone, reaching into my closet and pulling out something new or old-enough-it-feels-new, and running with it. And I found my focus -- a goal. I happen to like projects (if you read my other blog, you may get the impression that my life is no more than these sweeping gestures, even though the word project is in itself so awkward to me I tried to put a "d" in it for years). Thus, Back of the Closet Project was born.

The rules for the Back of the Closet Project are as follows:

1. Every outfit must contain at least one piece (preferably more) of clothing I have not worn in at least 3 months. Jewelry and accessories do not count. Shoes do.

2. I am allowed to buy a maximum of two items (preferably less) to add to my collection per month. Again, jewelry and accessories do not count, shoes do. I got this idea from Emily of Ruby Slipper Journeys -- although I upped the number since i am woefully inept at surviving on a limited number of items (she's the queen -- read her blog to be enchanted).

3. I will do this, and record it, every time I have to get dressed to leave the house. Since I work from home, I don't have the material to do an outfit a day, but i average about 5 days a week having some fodder other than my pj's.

Well, we'll see where this goes :)
