The Tale of the gothic woodsprite

So, this outfit is actually a pretty unusual one for me, but I must say, I like how it turned out.  It was slightly springy, and so I debuted my first shockingly bare legs of the season. From the front, anyway. I picked up this skirt (and have worn it once since, making it new/old item one) as a challenge to myself. Its nice and floaty, and not knee-length or a scant-few-inches-above. Unlike anything I own, despite a plethora of skirts. I also haven't worn this pieced lace wrap-vest (one of the Target designer lines) in a long time. And our strangely skeletal willow was catching my eye (and it matched a tone in the skirt), so why not be sprightly?

These flats were two dollars at Old Navy. That is all.

Valentines love

So, I know its way past Valentine's day, but...I'm finally catching up on my outfit pictures. I actually have most of them edited, so I hope to get caught up this week. In addition to working a lot. For both jobs. I say this semi-sarcastically, but I actually am more productive when I'm busy, so hey, I may be serious :)

In the meantime, MWA!

Anyway, you know what I said about scarves in the last post? Well, we really are back together. And we're very happy. So we're having a very happy celebration.

We go on nature rambles together,

make friends with the trees,

Heck, we even pose for couple's pictures!

Anyway, all silliness aside, this sweater dress just had to come out of the back of the closet for some Valentine's merriment. Even single, it was a very good day. I probably spent some of it falling in love with K-drama boys.

The Februaries

So, I have kept to my "only buying two items" rule, and I don't think I'm being overconfident when I say I can last a few more days.

They're both from Old Navy. I originally went in to pick up a dress in their butterfly print, which had disappeared from the website, and therefore would likely be on clearance. Not only wasn't it on clearance, it wasn't terribly flattering on. Sadface. But, a lot of their store was on clearance, and I found some lovely substitutions.

First off, this dress (to make its debut in a few posts):

A lovely, comfy dress that will travel well ;) Also, unlike anything I own.

I loved the print on this blouse when I first saw it, but I kind of fell in love when I tried it on. So it came home with me.

Working girly

So, dressing for work and keeping up with this, "wear one piece you havent worn in 3 months thing" is probably the most challenging part of my self-imposed wardrobe restrictions. Since we have to wear black with a solid layer top, and black pants/skirt/dark jeans, and I've work most of my black in the last 3 months, I have to resort to creative layering and accessories. Most of which I bought at my work, so they can't really complain if they're an obnoxiously large pink bow.

And considering that many times I come home from work, I'm too tired/just want to get into sweatpants, I often don't take pictures. But this ensemble was one of particular pride.

[Insert crazy model pose here]

Top: Old Navy
Cardigan: Target (modified)
Skirt: Alice Temperly for Target
Tights: Old, Idk
Shoes: My awesome purple Steve Madden flats which magically match just about every purple thing I own.

And once more I frolic

So, I'm not really a big fan of snow. Its not so much a dislike of snow, but the cold that accompanies it. But taking outfit pictures have given me an excuse to frolic in it. And I do so enjoy frolicking.

The snow also inspired the use of my new/old item, the lace top featured below. I've also revitalized my use of scarves. Time was, I wouldn't leave the house in the winter sans scarf, but this winter I've been very lax. Which is a shame, because thanks to a trip to Italy, I have many fabulous options.

Yeah, crazy blogger in the snow in short sleeves. But pulling out my summer tops not only gives me easy choices for use as my new/old item, but also reminds me that the sun will, eventually, come out.

Me being awesome with my clock necklace. The guard girls I help instruct gave me an award for "Most Likely to Know What Time it Is" for this necklace. And yes, that is a picture of Neil Patrick Harris behind my hand. About being awesome.

Spinning round

So, it was acting particularly springy. What was I to do but put on a skirt and prance around the yard? I was really excited to receive this charmeuse skirt for 9 dollars in my mail, and with a few minor adjustments, it was ready to go.

Once again, I was playing with the white balances.  And while I like how these pictures turned out all pastel, but it doesn't do justice to the color of the skirt. It's quite a vibrant teal, so vibrant all I could think to pair with it was black (ie. my new/old piece, this polka-dot blouse I picked up from Plato's Closet.) And pink tights. And originally the black loafers below, but I decided the boots brought a little contrast to the swing and sweetness.

And then I experimented with arms-length photos to get the fact that, yes, I was wearing a lot of pearls.

Boots: Wet Seal (option A)
Flats: Payless (option B)

A slight departure

So, this outfit doesn't exactly conform to the project, as I posted something on chictopia a while back that was very similar.  But I'm a big fan of the schoolgirl look, obviously, and I actually took some photos I'm proud of!

This outfit made me feel literary. Like a college student in the 70s. Hence, the very old English composition book. Yes I have one.

oh, and artistically posing by a window.

By the way, I'm wearing leggings, and my socks end just above the knee. I'm not flashin' yall.

and the light was off on this set of pictures, but I like how this one turned out. Especially the way it caught the red in my hair.

Cardigan: Target
Socks: Old Navy
Skirt: Thrifted

When you play with the white balance...

So, I look like a smurf. But one wearing this Tulle top I got forever ago and haven't yet debuted.

Buy I document anyway. And slowly I get better at my camera.

One of these days

So, I'll eventually get caught up. I've got a huge backlog of pics, and as I'm updating my chictopia account, I'm trying to keep them at the same place. Since chictopia has a limit to daily uploads, its going a wee bit slow. But stay tuned and I'll get there soon!

And yes, I do start all of my posts with "So," on purpose. I talk like that, its true. "So," has become my go-to segway, particularly since I tend to branch between completely unrelated bits of thought. So a weak segway fits me, since I'm so scatterbrained. I'm not so egotistical to say I'm starting a "thing," but I guess I am doing that...

On my other blog I hand out gold stars. I guess I just can't function without a "thing."

Cozy Comfy

So, I tried a stoic, dreamy type face. It sorta worked, no? Quite the contrast to last post, chock full of my wonderfully...ahem...quirky expressions.

The new/old item is this striped white skirt I thrifted last year. Its Talbots, via a local consignment shop, and a wonderfully classic little basic. It's a little wrinkled and caught on my tights in these pics, but I'm not so worried as I kind of look a little orphan-esque anyways.

Pardon me while I cuddle with this sweater -- which has elbow patches! I love it to bits, and it is another one of my 7 dollars well spent.

Sweater: Target
Skirt: Thrifted

Very casual

So, I've relapsed, dear readers. Into my college uniform -- shirt, cardigan, jeans and flats. I generally dress up more nowadays (the loose schedule helps -- I was a work-a-holic insane student). But once in a while I get a little comfy.

The new/old item is the flowered cardigan. I spotted it at Aeropostale (a place I rarely shop) in the store window. A few months later I happened to be wandering the mall after my shift, and wandered in to see if it was still there. It was, on clearance for 7 dollars. I love it when that happens.

Faces were not my strong suit this day.  All of them are either slightly scandalized or very cheesy.

See my awesome Children's accessories? Yeah, I own polka-dot little girls earrings with little metal bows. And the matching bracelet.

Sweet Somethings

So, I am in love with this dress. First off, it is a shirtdress which FITS. Anything with buttons is usually a challenge to my considerable bosomage. It is also one of many pieces which is slowly convincing me that my life love is Old Navy. It's also a nice delicate chambray, which is one of my favorite fabrics.

The Cardigan, however, is my BOC item. I have a lot of cardigans, not many of them get limelight. Sadly, this one may be getting retired as it is too short buttoned up, and the colors, when you look at the pattern closely, are just a little off -- I'm not super matchy, but I like something to go off of.

I really can't tell whether I'm wearing my purple tights or black ones.... Hence why I should be better at this and post my pictures whilst I remember what I actually wore.

When I got home I decided I should try the shirt under. I liked it better, but alas, I was home and comfy.

Work remix

So, nothing sartorially exciting was happening, so I'll post what I wore to work. Which happens to include this thrifted Nine West swing jacket. You can't see it in the pics, but it has a subtle polka dot in the weave. I need to find out how to take better pictures. Anyway, I found this pink bow headband and tote at work, and, well, they were coming home with me. As I checked out, my manager proudly states "You've gone over to the dark side, you've graduated from the headbands." By the way, I work at a children's clothing store. We're so good at being grown up.

Jacket: Nine West
Tee (which matches my walls :) : Old Navy
Jeans: Old Navy
Flats: American Eagle for Payless
Headband and Tote: The Children's Place

Carmel, Toffee and Candy

So, I don't have a story here. Partly because I'm uploading pictures from a month ago. So, pardon me whilst I empty my memory card. The new/old item: Pink, lacy goodness. I forget how wonderfully girly this piece is. Especially mixed with a flippy skirt. And I really can't tell you how much I adore my Christmas boots.

My awesome giant bow cuff.

You're going to see this face a lot. Sorry, its a tic.

A bit precious seventies

So, these jeans ave been on the rack because they didn't fit, but I loved the style (you can't really tell in these pictures, but they're quite high-waisted in a corseted way.) I've been a fan of seventies style (done my way) so they came back out!

But of course, I can't resist a cheeky high bun with a bow and pearl earrings :)

Sweater: Old Navy
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes (which you cant see): Target
Earrings and hairpin: Claire's

Where it began.

So,  I'm planning on keeping up my chictopia account, but it will only be an abbreviated version of what's here. But to start out, here's some relevant outfits I've cooked up lately which started this trend to wear the back-of-the-closet outcasts.

The new/old item in this post: the altered Walmart shorts and grey Icing boots

New/Old items: Reconstructed blazer and frilly Marshall's dress

New/Old items = UO dress (worn as skirt) and Target cardigan

New/old items: purple Target cardigan
